Katie Averill was appointed by Governor Kim Reynolds to serve in the role as Superintendent of the Iowa Credit Union Division in May of 2017. Previously she held the position of Senior Vice President of Citizens Community Credit Union where she served ten years overseeing branch operations, member service, marketing and business development as well as the staff liaison for the credit union board of directors.

Superintendent Averill serves on the board of directors for the NASCUS (National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors) and is the chair of the Joint Supervision Working Group for State and federal regulation with the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration).

Katie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Iowa State University. She is a Certified Credit Union Executive and a graduate of CUNA Management School.

She is the founder of the JOY of Reading Foundation that promotes literacy to children. She and her husband, Tim, are parents to three children and reside in Ankeny.
